我觉的应该是C.
在刘的答案里， that 指代的是： the distribution of mass. 我认为仅指the distribution.

带回原句不同。如C，则The distribution within the mantle surrounding the core,这种题你只需要带入法即可，从句子意思，合理性上判断，不要根据自己的表面的形式的理解

这里是个省略的用法，你可以把b/c分别还原来看看：
按照L的说法：B:the distribution of mass within the mantle surrounding the core
C:the distribution of mass of the mantle surrounding the core
比较b/c,B比较合理。

按你的说法：B:the distribution within the mantle surrounding the core
C:the distribution of the mantle surrounding the core
原文说的是质量的分布，被你给改成了mantle的分布，不论从哪个方面讲这都是不合理的

LZM说E中like前后的对象不对称，我并不觉得啊。

选项E是不够简洁，而且主要错在把SURROUNDING 改为 THAT SURROUNDS,SURROUNDING 表示一直的，不变的状态，而从句没有这个含义。
