我觉得这道题应该选e，以前的nn们都选A或者D，但没有结果呵呵，我来说一下理由，看e选项

因为在这里clearing不能give消费者房子和家具，而clearing creat farmland

这个动作可以，因此要用分词表伴随来代表前面的整个动作give房子和家具，而放眼前四个

选项没有一个公这样的表达；create和give是不能并列的。至于最后的but it也许是省略了also，

这种用法也能找到，所以我想e应该是正确答案。

except for the missing also, E has no problem. However,

not only ... but also...

is a fixed structure.

Hence, E is wrong.

D is perfect, grammatically, and logically.

It depends.

If the sentence begins with the reverse structure such as: not only did somebody do sth, then we can use but it aslo.

Of course, in this context, we don't have a problem like that in D. D is just a simple sentence with no need to use "not only... but also"

严格按ETS的书面语标准来说，每个答案都有缺陷。但是，相比之下，我认为A,B的缺陷还更大一些（A: 时态不平行；B：which指代前面的全句），而D选项只有一个不足，就是not only..., but....省略了also，但是平常的英语中这时很常见的用法（你可以baidu或者google一下就知道）

所以，我也认为：E才是最优选项。

A 的时态哪里不平行啊？A的错误是did放前面以后，两个动词都应该是原型

but "it" seems incorrect in E

这道题到底应该选什么啊，看了前辈们的帖子，还是看法不一，请大家再来讨论一下吧！

还有6天考试，几近崩溃～是不是机考也出像GWD这样有争议的题目啊，岂不很惨～
