Does age impact PhD admission?

My calender age is not as young as most of you guys. After years work in industry, I noticed some foundamental problem in business and decided to delve further on those issues. This is the reason I decided to go to PhD. I want to know whether age will impact admission if every other factors are similar.

Thanks!

应该不会的!你的工作经验还会是申请中的优势呢!

It will not hurt your admission, unless you are TOO old, which I think is not the case for most Chinese students.

If you are below 35, you should be OK.

Check out this informative thread on age impact: http://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=14303&sid=55e79fb3a6a3cce45451b2bc527b101f. My general impression is that only a handful top schools open doors for older applicants and some fields (like Strategy) are more flexible.

Here at Ivey, we enroll students older than 40 on a regular base (check out the profiles of our doctoral students) and I have the impression that our strategy program even prefers students with more working expereince. For instance, this year we recruited a 40some former deputy general manager of strategy from China United Telecommunications Corporation (see http://www.ivey.ca/phd/IveyPhDStudents/AreaGroups/GeneralMgmt/FrancisSun_bio.htm)

some programs do prefer candidates who have some work experience.others do not. In our program, the average age of current students are around 29.Nobody is older than 40.It's really rare.

Age is something but the main point unless your age already becomes a proof for mental inablility. Take it easy.

However, the above red part is not a strong support, logically say.

Why?  It sounds reasonable...
