答案选 A 但是我觉得A中的第一个their 和后面的 they 指代的不一样啊？第一个their face 的their 不应该是指人么？后面的they 又是指 spear point 所以看一眼就排除了。。。选了C 感觉C 的结构什么的也挺合理

不知道楼主还需不需要解答了，最近才看到.....
最后一道我认为其实C语法上是错的，因为这样一来the streets could be cleaner和fire code could be better enforced中间只有一个逗号（无连词）连接，但是两个独立完整的句子之间是一定要有连词的，所以C选项其实是run-on sentence。B是将两个独立主格平行，语法上正确

另外1852那道题答案应该是A，不过就像楼主所说，该句子结构确实很奇怪：the more 后面还加了一个increasingly显得重复。不过根据the more, the more结构以及句子含义，也只能选A了
