Even though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
  • AEven though Clovis points, spear points with longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces, have been found all over North America, they are named for the New Mexico site where they were first discovered in 1932.
  • BAlthough named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, Clovis points are spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto their faces and have been found all over North America.
  • CNamed for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932, Clovis points, spear points of longitudinal grooves chipped onto the faces, have been found all over North America.
  • DSpear points with longitudinal grooves that are chipped onto the faces, Clovis points, even though named for the New Mexico site where first discovered in 1932, but were found all over North America.
  • EWhile Clovis points are spear points whose faces have longitudinal grooves chipped into them, they have been found all over North America, and named for the New Mexico site where they have been first discovered in 1932.

A The United States petroleum industry’s cost to meet environmental regulations is projected at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum by the end of the decade.
BThe United States petroleum industry’s cost by the end of the decade to meet environmental regulations is estimated at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum.
CBy the end of the decade, the United States petroleum industry’s cost of meeting environmental regulations is projected at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum.
DTo meet environmental regulations, the cost to the United States petroleum industry is estimated at ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum by the end of the decade.
EIt is estimated that by the end of the decade the cost to the United States petroleum industry of meeting environmental regulations will be ten percent of the price per barrel of refined petroleum.
这题答案选E  我想说 C 好像也没问题啊。。

Bbetter enforced, and its crime rate reduced
Ccould be better enforced, and it could reduce its crime rate
Dbetter enforced, and its crime rate could reduce
Ecould be better enforced, and its crime rate reduce 答案选B B中是省略了2个could be 么??就是是省略了 感觉还是很奇怪啊 这题有正确答案么i

不知道楼主还需不需要解答了,最近才看到.....
最后一道我认为其实C语法上是错的,因为这样一来the streets could be cleaner和fire code could be better enforced中间只有一个逗号(无连词)连接,但是两个独立完整的句子之间是一定要有连词的,所以C选项其实是run-on sentence。B是将两个独立主格平行,语法上正确

另外1852那道题答案应该是A,不过就像楼主所说,该句子结构确实很奇怪:the more 后面还加了一个increasingly显得重复。不过根据the more, the more结构以及句子含义,也只能选A了
