A the cause is not so much that ... as that ...
B their being bred 所有格加上分词不敢说没有，但是很少有对的。
C it is ... the cause ... it做形式主语，后面的真实主语从句要用that提示
D their being bred 同B错
E it is ... the cause ... 同A错
试着翻译一下
根据一位专家意见，许多品种的狗身上出现的基因不规则性更多的是由于它们本身数量就相对比较少，而不是由于基于相貌或者为适应其他苛刻的需求而来（有选择性的）培养它们。

其实这个句子结构不复杂的，就是：
According to ××, the cause ..... is so much that .... as that
在这里so much that 要和 as that 并列
D选项里面that从句不是并列的

sth与其说是A,还不如说是B
主句中A和B分别是由that引导的表语从句。
