我感觉是因为explaining所修饰的部分不清晰,到底是讲Harvard anthropologist所发现的情况能够去explain还是Harvard anthropologist发现情况的这个事件本身能够去explain。

我觉得逻辑含义应该是后者吧,是不是use不能用with来替换啊?

句子的原意应该是前者,即Harvard anthropologist所发现的情况能够去explain,而不是发现这个动作本身explain了什么。不过因为explaining跟在整个句子后面,造成指代不清。cooking food with fire这个短语看我看来也是正确的讲法,所以错不在这个短语,而在explaining

the use ...could date back ...and could explain.

原句重心是use fire...C 的重心cook food...改变重心

XDF语法老师讲过动名词在GMAT中很少选,因为会有歧义(作为中国人我一直没感到,但觉得此理论还比较管用,而且在OG中也有过类似排除DOING的官方解释)而且Like在GMAT中不做举例使用,like像...为口语,

SO,相比B肯定不能选C

我選了B,但是對date back以及時間狀語的的用法很疑惑,這裡難道不用be dated back to xxx years ago麽?
