Who is responsible for preserving the natural environment? The government or the individuals? According to the statement above, the author prefers that each individual person is responsible for preserving the natural environment. In my point of view, I agree with the author's opinion and there are many instances supporting my view.

    First of all, humans explore and consume the natural environment, and therefore is responsible for consuming efficiently in order to preserve the natural environment. In ancient times, our ancestors cut the forest to get fire, capture animals to get food, and live around the rivals or seas to get water. All of our ancestors' behaviors consume the natural environment. In the industrial times, humans explore the unexcavated lands to get metal, wool, and other raw materials to produce products. Nowadays, humans live in all over the earth except the places unfit for human beings, and use every material in the world to satisfy the daily needs of lives. Under this circumstance, humans are responsible in every step of the consumption of the natural environment and therefore is responsible for preserving the natural environment while exploring it.

    Secondly,  the daily pollution of human behaviors is responsible for the broken natural environment, therefore, individual person is responsible for preserving the natural environment. All of our pollutions are the major cause of environmental pollution, such as junks, manufacturing rubbishes, radioactive pollutions are all the same. In order to preserve the natural environment, humans should start from the initiation of pollution. Consequently, individuals are responsible for preserving the natural environment.

    Some would argue that the government is in charge of making policies and supervising the enforcement of the laws that protect the natural environment. Indeed, the government is in charge of making macro policies, and that is the strategy of preserving the natural environment. However, individuals are the subject to perform good policies and strategies. With no individuals, any good policy or strategy will be bubbles after all. So, individual are responsible for preserving the natural environment.

    In conclusion, I agree with the author's opinion that individuals are responsible for preserving the natural environment. Because humans explore and consume the natural environment and is responsible for preserving the natural environment while exploring it. Also, the human behaviors are the major factor of environmental pollution, therefore, individuals are responsible for preserving the natural environment.
