Anderson A-days

Not too many Anderson news here. As an entering student, I would like to have some input.

I am now in office, so I can only use English. Really sorry for that!

I live in Los Angeles, and was accepted to Anderson in this Jan. So I joined Anderson A days in last weekend.

A-days is an event for round1 and some round 2 early admits to get to know each other and know more about Anderson.

This year Anderson admitted about 6 Chinese students in round 1. 3 in China and 3 in North America. 3 boys and 3 girls. Kind of a balance.

I talked to a Chinese student there, she told me there are about 10-15 Chinese students each year in Anderson.

Everybody cares career:

I talked to different people including alumni, career office staff, 2nd year student. My feeling is:

1. Anderson is a good place for IB, corporate(general management), real estate, and entertainment management.

reason:

Anderson has a very strong finance program. Anderson forecast is world renowned research center. I talked to Anderson finance club president. He told me this year's placement is great. Almost everyone got a job in his/her intended field.  Currently, IB is not limited to wall street. many big IBs have expand their offices in SF and LA as well as San Diego. West coast also has lots of IM companies. And, Anderson students have very diversified interests. no more than 90 students are interested in finance. Guess how many in Chicago and Wharton are interested in finance? so less competition here. as long as those top firms come to recruit. Whether you can get it or not depends on you not your school.

entertainment: no doubt, beverley hill is right there. where can you find a better place to learn entertainment management?

real estate: LA and NYC are two Real estate centers in America.

corporate: California, what else can I say? just check how many big name companies are here.

2. Anderson may not be perfect for consulting guys.

The consulting club president told me this year's consulting recruiting is not good, especially for the positions in America. I don't know why.  this is the only person I met that told me sth not good about Anderson.

Finally, I have to say Anderson has very good hardware. I visited several top b schools in America, I have to say Anderson has top tier facilities. Anderson has 5 buildings surrounding a courtyard. One for part time MBA, 4 for full time MBA. Sunset blvd is just outside the buildings. Westwood is the best district of Los Angeles.

你也没有interview对不？

至少在CD上，interview和offer都没有见到。可能R2不interview就发offer呢。24号deadline，不远了。

有点好奇，grizzly，如果你收到UCLA的offer你会去哪个学校？why？

赫赫，我不在里面。而且那帮人去喝酒的时候，我跑到中国城看电影去了。看电影的时候酒喝多，睡着了。
