UC Berkeley is No.1. The guy who built this area is teaching in Berkeley. Most of the good IP law programs in US are led by his students.

Stanford is in top 5 as well, they got two professors from Berkeley to jump themselves into top 5.

You may want to choose Santa Clara as well if top 20 is too much for you.

Cardozo School of Law school, Columbia University School of Law, Franklin Pierce Law Center, George Mason University Law School, George Washington University National Law Center, John Marshall School of Law, New York University School of Law, Santa Clara University, University of Baltimore School of Law, University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, University of Houston Law Center, University of Southern California Law Center, University of Washington School of Law and Vanderbilt University School of Law.

geographically, you want to be close to these three areas:

1. San Francisco Bay area: 60% of the patents filed in 2005 comes from this area.
2. Washington DC: USPTO is there, enough said
3. Houston: Yeah, funny, isn't it. It is a popular place to sue someone on patent because of its jury pool. Chinese flash memory patent case is filed in Texas too.

So top20 schools anywhere in US will get you a good job, Yale graduates can do anything in US. But if that is too much for you, try these schools

1. Santa Clara Law school
2. American Law school
3. Unviersity of Houston law school
