求指点，关于while/after doing sth. 的主语如何确定~~

先看两道例题：
408. In the last few years, the number of convicted criminals given community service sentences, which allow the criminals to remain unconfined while they perform specific jobs benefiting the public, have risen dramatically.

(A) sentences, which allow the criminals to remain unconfined while they perform specific jobs benefiting the public, have

(B) sentences, performing specific jobs that benefit the public while being allowed to remain unconfined, have

(C) sentences, performing specific jobs beneficial to the public while they are allowed to remain unconfined, have

(D) sentences which allow them to remain unconfined in their performing of specific jobs beneficial to the public has

(E) sentences allowing them to remain unconfined while performing specific jobs that benefit the public has
这一题答案选E，我选了D，因为觉得while doing 的主语是主句主语（the number of convicted criminals ）逻辑错误，所以排除了E；虽然D中有一个表达有点不好的 in their doing 但是应该还是一个比较好的答案，觉得很迷惑~我对D的判断错了吗?求指点啊~~~~~

220.(GWD-24-8, OG12-86)The results of the company's cost-cutting measures are evident in its profits, which increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it fell over the last two years.

A.which increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it fell

B.which had increased five percent during the first three months of this year after it had fallen

C.which have increased five percent during the first three months of this year after falling

D.with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after falling(C)

E.with a five percent increase during the first three months of this year after having fallen
这一题同样存在after doing和上题while doing 类似的结构，c中的after falling 的主语是不是就是定语从句的主语profits，而DE中的after doing的主语是什么？是不是不能确定主语所以错误？可不可以是主句主语，但是又相隔甚远，有逗号分开？很纠结， after/while doing 的主语该如何确定啊？？

额为什么没人回。。第一个，while可以省略，这里的主语是criminals，while。。在从句里，不要和主句的主语搞到一起。第二个after falling的主语确实是profits，DE错在不应该用with

"allowing them to" can be regarded as allowing them to and allow them to perform, just that using while makes the sentence look succinct.

while doing这样如果是做状语的，doing的主语是主句的主语

第一个题目，D/E有些细微差别，D更好，GMAT SC要选最好的

(D) sentences which allow them to remain unconfined in their performing of specific jobs beneficial to the public has

(E) sentences allowing them to remain unconfined while performing specific jobs that benefit the public has

1. D中间which....是essential modifier，最好换成that ...（Manhattan p.89）
2. in vs. while, while 更precise, in含义模糊（例如，是做performing这件事情的方式上没有限制、随便你发挥创造性，还是做这件事情的时候没有限制？根据句意，这表示的是做performing的时候有自由，即放风）
3. D的结构，一层层修饰套上去，每层都有介词短语(... to ... in .... of ... to...），很confusing (OG上面有类似例子，我记得似乎是不定式里面还套不定式，就说confusing），这里前后两个to位于同一个成分（主句宾补）里面很不好，容易让人误以为是parrellel结构。
4. "jobs beneficial to the public" vs. "jobs that benefit the public" 。按照V-A-N规则，后者preferred。
综合以上，E更好。至于用sentences that allow..还是sentences allowing，这两个GMAC认为都同样可以。
