一个关于 way 和 so that 的问题

先看原题：Especially in the early years, new entrepreneurs may need to find resourceful ways, like renting temporary office space or using answering services, that make their company seem large and more firmly established than they may actually be.
A  that make their company seem large
B  to make their companies seem larger
C  thus making their companies seem larger
D  so that the companies seem larger
Eof making their company seem large
正确答案: B

我的问题是：我知道选B肯定是对的，但是选D一定错吗？ find resourceful ways so that the companies seem larger than they may actually be 这句话本身应该不算错吧？
                  我还找到一句来自BBC的类似的话是这样的：He's a good manager and we just have to find a way so that we can try to understand what he wants to tell us and how he wants us to play and put that on the pitch.          （http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/29990739）这句话看起来很正常没问题吧？

求各位大神解

首先，B选项是很明显比D好，way to make 是固定搭配，所以后面的分析没有必要，SC是单选不是多选。

以下跟选出正确答案没有关系！
如果非要分析，除了way so that 比 way to make awkward，the companies 其实是不正确的指代，因为句子里没有提过companies，正确的指代应该是their (the new entrepreneurs') companies.

但是再次强调，SC是选正确选项，所以只要能选出正确选项就可以。对这题而言，判断B选项正确比D选项错误要容易的多。

楼上提到的“the companies指代有误”说的很好~
我补充一下。
1）根据白勇语法，so that后面的句子使用情态动词时表示目标，不使用情态动词时表示结果。
根据逻辑意思很容易区分两者差异。楼主给的题目和BBC的例子也符合这一规则。
2）SC选择的是最优选项，即使D没有其他错误，也比B更罗嗦，仍旧选B。
3）为某个语法点是否可行找依据时，建议只从SC的题库找（尤其是OG或prep），其次可以查权威词典。像BBC这样的来源里使用的语法规则和GMAT SC的要求不一定一致。
4）这道题目里，个人认为提干里的like是错误的，逻辑意思上表示“举例”，不是表示“像”，应使用such as。
