Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your position with reasons and/or examples from your experience, observations, or reading.
The issue of whether in politics or in business, leaders of any group need to understand that learning to compromise is ultimately more important than winning is a complex and controversial discussion arouse from people with different backgrounds and perspective. In the traditional view, people contend that a successful leader, no matter in politics or in business field, should always keep his position and never compromise. However, a recent perspective of some people assert that leaders of any group need to learn to compromise and it is more important than winning. As far as I am concerned, I buttress the point of the later group of people.
In the first place, in the politics field, many cases have shown the importance of compromise. If it is not for the compromise that the trade representatives from China and US made during the negotiation concerning China's entry into WTO, China will never conduct its foreign trade in a fair international market. If it is not for the compromise that Mr Deng Xiaoping made on the issue of gradual recovery of land of Hongkong, Hongkong will be still under the control of United Kingdom. Under these circumstances, it is obvious that compromise plays a critical role in the political issues.
In the second place, in the business world, compromise is more commonplace. In the business, there is a word Merger and Acquit ion. To illustrate, let us see an example just conducted by our company. Our company just finished a project for providing consulting for one of the biggest world construction material supermarkets because it plans to acquisite the another big one. If both of the companies keep struggling lonely for the market in China, neither of them will make profits and will soon be defeated by the most giant one that will soon taps onto the China market. Now, the acquition secures both of their markets. Hence, the example shows another evidence that how compromise can play a positive role in a business world.
However, we admit that sometimes a leader cannot compromise without any condition. He should learn to balance the advantage and disadvantage to make a wise decision.
In conclusion, due to above mentioned reasons, I proponent that no matter in politics field or business field, the leader need to understand learning to compromise is utimately more important than winning.
