[求助]OG11补充-39（月底考试，请一定帮帮我吧！）

我找不到以前关于OG11题目的讨论，所以重新发了一帖，谢谢帮助！

A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calves exercise and associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do those raised in confinement.

答案里的是这样的：associate with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight more quickly than

我的疑问是：1、“if ... , they require... and gain...” 这两个动词就用现在时？Why?

                     2、答案里面省略了 ‘do’，他的解释是：The verb do ungrammatically interrupts the comparison and   should be eliminated. 我觉得是这样的：they require less medication and gain weight more quicker than those raised in confinement do.      they+V.  than  those+V. 这样才平行啊！

                          请哪位能指点一下，我的第二个问题是我的一个长久的弱点，总是不确定than后面的平行怎么看。
