题目里面的原句是：
Of all the earthquakes in European history, the earthquake, which destroyed Lisbon in 1755, is perhaps the most famous.

这道sc的题目答案是：
Of all the earthquakes in European history, the earthquake that destroyed Lisbon in 1755 is perhaps the most famous.

问题1，
which改为that，是因为which不能修饰从句只能修饰主语吗？但是这道题里面的“the earthquake”不是从句而是一个noun，那为什么要改呢？

问题2，
两个逗号中间是nonessential clause，所以答案去掉了两个逗号，那我能只去掉一个逗号吗，这样也算nonessential clause吗？

以下选自曼哈顿中文笔记：
1.修饰限制性名词修饰（essential）,一般开头用the; 无逗号隔开的，用that；
2.非限制性名词修饰（non-essential）,一般开头用this/these; 有逗号隔开的，用which
eg:
Non-essential: This mansion, WHICH HAS BEEN RECENTLY PAINTED READ, is owned by the Lees.
Essential: The mansion THAT HAS BEEN PAINTED RED is owned by the Lees.
但是当which前面有介词的时候，例如for which,可能不需要that,但是依然需要逗号原则。
Non-essential: This mansion, FOR WHICH I YEARN, is owned by the Lees.
Essential: The mansion FOR WHICH I YEARN is owned by the Lees.

简单说就是the开头，没逗号，用that/ for which
this/these开头，有逗号，用which/for which

当我们去掉中间的插入语，原句变为：Of all the earthquakes in European history is perhaps the most famous. 这时的主语是all the earth quakes 所以后面不是is 应该是are；
SC答案：Of all the earthquakes in European history, the earthquake that destroyed Lisbon in 1755 is perhaps the most famous. 这时的that即修饰前面的the earthquake后面用is是正确的
