B首先排掉，being本身就awkward，并且在这里做定语修饰letters会产生做主语nephew的伴随状语；
C句句子意思重复，本来就有witness account of eruption，后面在提到eruption of V就显得很罗嗦，并且被动句不如主动句
D分词做伴随状语必须全程同步伴随，这里的writing和accounted for有时间断层，并且主干部分（wrote the only account）在这里变成了伴随的部分，account for 变成了主干部分，曲解了句意
下面的部分就难了AE看起来差不多，唯一的区别是in two letters 的位置，A会产生让人以为：eruption in two letters，而不是account in two letters，所以产生歧义，不如E
你这道题算是比较难的，因为PK语义的部分以及很细的细节部分比较多

整句句子都划线，语法错误就变得不那么明显了，通常下面的选项也是在句子部分之间做顺序颠倒。sc的出题用意，个人认为就是为了考察你是否能将你所想的正确清楚地表达出来。

我对于此类题目的方法是基于刷了几遍og之后大脑自己出来的思路，供你参考一下，但首先你要熟悉og惯用的逻辑表达句型。

在你通读了一遍原句（即A）后，没有发现明显错误，你很快地找出句子中的sv，能知道点句子大致在说什么，但是脑子里面对题目的意思却还是一团浆糊，好的，A应该不是最好的答案，因为他没让你搞明白它想说什么，看BCDE。在看BCDE的过程中，自己脑子里面重组信息，当你找到非常契合答案，就是他了，但是要把BCDE都扫一遍，再决定，因为sc让你选的是best choice。
！注意一点，选项很少会改变原句想表达的逻辑重心，即使原句是i错的。改变语序经常会碰到一个问题，就是逻辑重心转移。在不改变这点的情况下选出表达最清楚的那一个，一定是答案。

翻译：在给史学家塔西陀的两封信中，老普利尼的侄子写到了维苏威火山大爆发的唯一现场目击情况。

如果是原句的话：老普利尼的侄子在给史学家塔西陀的两封信中写到了维苏威火山大爆发的唯一现场目击情况。

我觉得可能是表意的问题吧，d和e的基本思想都是把后面某个部分提前以使原句表意更清晰。那显然e比d要清晰明确
