本题比较有争议得答案是C，

由于本句中，but前有插入语，如果选C则but得用法有歧义，即but可以做连词，也可以做介词(与前面得插入语相互应)，由于本句得逻辑是要使用but得连词用法，故用but are避免了歧义。

介词表示除了在他给的例句中可以理解.

可是..这里BUT我觉得跟前面的插入语并没有可以连起来.BUT做介词的可能啊~~

同一个逻辑主语,在另一句话中可以省略

我也选的是C，对prep笔记给出的解释很困惑

but 如果可以做介词，不仅仅是跟在一个句子的后面就可以吧，至少前面的句子要有否定的意思吧，就像prep笔记里面给出的例句：The plan cause not prosperity but ruin.

然而because……只是陈述了没有否定的含义。如果把例句相应的改为：The plan cause A but B. 不知道关系的A和B才能从逻辑上讲明白啊~~

而且如果是介词短语，是不是but前面的逗号可以省略了呢？

刚才，查了一下语法书《实用英语语法——张道真》

介词but： 1）除去（多和nobody，nothing，everything，who等代词连用）：He took nothing but that.    Who but a fool would do such a thing?

                  2) 用于某些俗语： He was the last but one to arrive.他是倒数第二个来的。

感觉和本题都不太使用

not A but B,其中but前面不能有逗号。

is not A, but is B，由于有逗号+but,后面要是句子，又因为主语相同，所以省略主语。
