答案B中without it their grip.... 我怎么也看不明白啊？为什么两个代词在这里啊？求大神指导一下！再有，如果A变为：if they did not hold it, their girp on Algeria would be always insecure是不是就对了呢？

我觉得Morocco was also of interest to the French 的意思是法国人对摩洛哥也有兴趣。（一开始把意思看反了）it指代Morocco，their指代the French。这样就可以理解句意了。B选项就是把介词短语放在了主语的前面，所以看起来觉得不舒服。A这样改确实了一个错误点，但是OG解释不是还说它wordy and imprecise，所以不要改错误选项，因为无法知道对错，正确答案都是对比出来的。

1. without it their grip...两个代词没有问题啊，只要两个代词有指代词, 这和两个名词在这是一样的，只是通过倒装把句子结构移动了一下.

例句：
I will never be who I am today without my father. (correct)
Without my father I will never be who I am today. (same sentence)

2. 如果A变为：if they did not hold it, their girp on Algeria would be always insecure是不是就对了呢？

也不正确. 因为"if they did not hold it" 表示French在assume的时候已经把morocco掌控了, 只是回望说“啊幸好我拿到了，否则不堪设想..."

而句意是想说明"Morocco was of interest to the French throughout the first half of 20th century”的原因, French一直存在这种拿下Morocco期望的理由

大神，原谅我还是有点没理解，这里的without it their grip中的it和their都指代谁呢？我的理解是，it指代Morocco，their指French，所以这句话的意思是：没有Morocco，French在Algeria的控管上永远都不会稳定。
但这样，不应该是 without it，（逗号）their grip on Algeria would never be secure吗？谢谢你

谢谢大神解答，这个of interest是这么个意思啊。。。之前题都读的迷糊。。
还有一个小问题，如果这里it指代Morocco，their指French，这句话的意思是：没有Morocco，French在Algeria的控管上永远都不会稳定。为什么句子不是without it，（逗号）their grip on Algeria would never be secure啊？我觉得没有这个逗号，就读不明白a。。

美女，你理解的代词指代和句意都正确, 加不加逗号都不影响句意.

1. gmat不考标点符号的应用

2. 我举的例子中without并没有逗号, 你自己也可以随便造句, 比如以下两个句子都成立.

I would have failed without my friend.

I would have failed, without my friend.

所以这两个句子把without my friend提到前面, 倒装后依然成立. 句子的各个结构的组成是很灵活的, 经常会根据句意, 或者作者的文风偏好而改变. 不管它怎么变, 如果你在正选中看到它, 可以肯定的就是这是符合formal English的表达方法.
