求助一道语法题

在看 Ron 的视频的时候有道题不太明白，求大神指导~~
题目：
In the past several years, astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets, most of them as large or larger than Jupiter, which circle other stars.
A. most of them as large or larger than Jupiter, which circle
B. most of them as large or larger than Jupiter and circling
C.most of them at least as large as Jupiter, circling
D.mostly at least as large as Jupiter , which circle
E.mostly as large or larger than Jupiter, circling

这道题正确答案是C，我知道怎么排除得到选项，就是不懂RON的一个解释
RON说不能用and circling，因为and circling 和 size 不是类似的概念，不能平行，而且用and circling的话，表示most of 80 planets来circle other stars. 但是原文本来的意思是all the 80 stars来circle other stars所以应该用 , circling.
请问 , circling 不是应该修饰句子主语吗，为什么就可以修饰planets,而且是表示 all the 80 planets呢

circling要是修饰主句主句，句意上不就成了astronomers circle stars么。。。显然逻辑不对

个人觉得，句子可以简化为——astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets, circling other stars.

circling other stars作为伴随状语，伴随着句子谓语动词detect而发生或存在的。而most of them at least as large as Jupiter是 80 massive planets的同位语，解释说明 80 massive planets的size。
