82. Defense attorneys have occasionally argued thattheir clients’ misconduct stemmed from a reaction to something ingested, but in attributingcriminal or delinquent behavior to some food allergy, the perpetrators are in effect told that they are notresponsible for their actions.
(A) in attributing criminal or delinquent behaviorto some food allergy,
(B) if criminal or delinquent behavior is attributed toan allergy to some food,
(C) in attributing behavior that is criminal ordelinquent to an allergy to some food,
(D) if some food allergy is attributed as the causeof criminal or delinquent behavior,
(E) in attributing a food allergy as the cause ofcriminal or delinquent behavior,

我有点不懂gmat的解释说 the modifying phrase(in attributing...)incorrectly describes perpetrators when it should describe Defense attorneys 是什么意思?

but后面是另一个句子,由于in attributing criminal or delinquent behavior to some food allergy算分词结构也好介词短语也好,都是non. modifier,修饰主句的主语。而这里面主句是后面的 the perpetrators are in effect told that they are notresponsible for their actions.

结果 is attribute to 原因
按照上面的用法,应该用犯罪行为 is attribute to food allergy
或者 food allergy attribute to 犯罪行为。

(E) in attributing a food allergy as the cause ofcriminal or delinquent behavior,

1)attribute A to B,  D/E 错

   A/C错

3)前一句中 a reaction to something ingested 和 后一句中 an allergy tosome food, 很好地对称了起来,

                 allergy to some food
                 some allery to food

结果 is attribute to 原因

OG里面貌似没有说AC的因果倒置了,只是说修饰语如果换成从句的形式更好,即attributing criminal or delinquent behaviors to some food allergy变成criminal or delinquent behavior is attributed to an alley to some food 会更加清晰

此题为何og 官方解释上说,“criminal or delinquent behavior(x) is attributed to (verb phrase) an allergy to some food(y).
为何some food 是 y,an allergy 不是 y呢?
