ABC错误明显，直接排除。A，like后不可以接句子，只可以是名词形式。
B，比较对象不对等。Cand的并列有误，句子和分词并列是错的。
虽然D有错，有点模糊指代的错误，但是比起E来好很多，E添加了case改变了句子意思，并且是多余的，不够简洁。句子重点在will expand into a red giant and will eventually eject 的比较，而不是来说明CASE的。
读起来D也跟顺口

28题(D)中 it错误地指代hydrogen；并且用as连接句子，从未划线的部分的will可以看出不应该用过去时态 would。所以答案是E
