101 Some people like doing work by hand. Others prefer using machines. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answers.
Which method do people like to use when they are working? Depending on different inclinations, diversity of purposes and various stages, some people may prefer to use machines. Others, however, choose to work by hand. In my opinion, man should adopt different methods with different needs at different periods.
It is known to all that machines bring humans a lot of convenience. With the invention of the steam powered machine, people no longer have to draw some heavy things by themselves; the production machines in factories make work simple and fast; and the advent of the computer has changed people’s life immensely. There is no doubt that machines can guarantee more accurate results and mass production. If we are to do some large amount of calculations, the calculator or computer may be a good help.
On the other hand, however, working by hand can also be wonderful. Maybe the artcrafts are the best examples. The carpenter create delicate and graceful furniture; the potter can produce elaborate vessels; and the painters represent the beauty of the wilderness. They all work out the wonderful things by hand. Besides, working by hand might be more environmentally friendly.
Admittedly, both working by hand and working with machines have many advantages, whereas they both have some disadvantages in some extent. If we allow a child to write with a computer from the beginning of writing, although computers can make writing fast and convenient, he or she may lose the chance of practicing the ability of handwriting, which can prompt the children’s development in all aspects. But if we need a large number of clothing products to help people in need with a very short time, tailors may not be helpful, then we have to turn to machines.
From what has been discussed above, we can easily draw the conclusion that working by hand is as well as, if not better than working with machines. The point is that what choose to do with people’s work depends on their various needs at different time. |
