LSAT-6-2-2

2. Physiological research has uncovered disturbing evidence linking a number of structural disorder disorders to logging. Among the ailments seemingly connected with this now-popular sport are spinal disk displacements, stress fractures of the feet and ankles, knee and hip joint deterioration, and tendonitis. Furthermore, these injuries do not occur exclusively among beginning runners-veteran joggers suffer an equal percentage of injuries. What the accumulating data suggest is that the human anatomy is not able to withstand the stresses of jogging. Which one of the following is an assumption of the argument?

(A) The link between jogging and certain structural disorders appears to be a causal one.

(B) Jogging causes more serious disorders than other sports.

(C) The jogger's level of experience is a factor determining the likelihood of a jogging injury.

(D) Some sports are safer for the human body than jogging.

(E) The human species is not very durable.

答案是A,不是很明白题目的逻辑关系。请NN帮忙解答解答,谢谢!

What has been uncovered is "evidence linking some injuries to jogging".  The evidence only suggests, but does not prove, that jogging caused these injuries.  The passage, however, concludes that "human anatomy is unable to withstand the stresses of jogging".  This can only be true if jogging has caused the disorders.  Therefore, A is the best answer.

You can also use "deny test" to verify that A is indeed a necessary assumption for the original conclusion.

premise : there is a link between these disorders with jogging. that is, veteren joggers suffer physiological disorders while beginner joggers don't. (the longer you jog, the more easily you suffer disorders)

conclusion: human atonomy cannot withstand the stresses from jogging.

caution: a causation is implied by the conclusion although there is no such relationship in its premise.

意思是说premise:the longer you jog, the more easily you suffer disorders只是个偶然的现象,而这样才不会和文中的"these injuries do not occur exclusively among beginning runners-veteran joggers suffer an equal percentage of injuries."矛盾是吗

关键是前提里不蕴涵因果关系,结论里出现因果关系了. 你说怪也不怪.
