这句是正确的

Any medical test will sometimes fail to detect the present of a condition when it is there and indicate its presence when it is not.
这句解释说横线句会导致最后的it没有指代对象，为什么呢？

来解释下错误的那句话，最后那句话是变成medical test fail to detect something...and indicate something....这两个平行是没有问题，但是你要看somthing后面跟的状语从句就发现有大大的问题。首先，第一个，就是你所说的最后一个it 没有指代，前面出现了那么多something,有condition，有presence，你到底想要指代哪一个呢，如果就近指代，那么it就是指代前面的presence了，很明显不符合逻辑。
其次，最后一句的状语从句，it is not后面省略的是什么？这个状语从句前面并没有present这个动词出现，所以it is not也不知道是什么意思，是一个fragment.
所以最后错的那个句子从语感方面来讲也显得非常的awkard
而且刚开始读你第一句话也觉得很awkard,百度了才找到正确的句子，不知道你第一句是不是复制黏贴错了还是怎样？

之前你说的应该是C选项就是我之前打的第一句，awkward的话是为什么呢，因为C在书上是答案。。。麻烦你再帮我看看。。谢谢

A选项我还是理解有误，也没有注意到there is one这样的表达没有固定条件是不适于在GMAT中出现的，对楼主有一定的误导~不好意思哦~

(E) is wrong and the difference is the following:
...fail to detect a condition when it is present...
...fail to detect the presence of a condition when it is there...

Once you add in "the presence of a condition" ...then the "it" doesn't know which noun to reference. In the prior case, "it" was referencing "condition" so that was clear. But in the new version....it's ambiguous. Is it referencing "presence" or "condition"?

It should be "fail to detect the presence of a condition when the CONDITION is there"....that is the intended meaning and that's why (E) is not right.

Prefer verb to action noun ,a condition when it is present" is more concise and clearer than "the presence of condition when it is there". ("presence" is the action noun here)

condition本来存在，但是这个测试没有检测出来

(2 ) ："indicate that it is present　when it is not"

condition 本来不存在，检测结果显示它存在
