Leaching, the recovery ofcopper from the drainage water of mines, as a method of the extraction ofminerals, it was well established as early as the eighteenth century, butuntil about 25 years ago miners did not realize that bacteria take an activepart in the process.

为什么不是E，25 years ago 用的不是过去式吗，那过去的过去不是had done吗
求教！！

A错，it多余。
B错，establish从被动变主动，leaching是个方法，只能用被动。
C正确。用was用一般过去时与as early as 18th century时间也搭配。
D错。that was 定语从句的加入改变了句子原本的逻辑意思，as early as 18th century的从leaching这个method变成了mineral。
E错。完成时，就表示一个动作持续到某时的结果。这里如果用了had been a method...as early as the 18th century,句意就变成了“18世纪以前leaching是个方法，18世纪以后就不是了”，而原句并没有这个意思。

这个题很简单，如果不会做说明你语法基础还不牢固，对GAMT核心测试内容掌握还不太清楚。建议语法重新细过一遍。

A B 不是句子因为有 , but  所以前面需要是完整句子
D：Leaching as early as  不是 extracting mineral thatwas  修饰错误
E:两个句子的谓语动词没有明确时间先后 had been  与 did not realize
