37--Do you agree or disagree that progress is always good? Use specific reasons and explain your answer.

Although many people believe that progress brings a lot of benefit to the world, such as invention of automobiles, discovery of electricity and etc, I am convinced that progress also brings some negative impacts to our life. I will elaborate my views as follows.

First and foremost, as the society’s developing, economy of many countries improves quickly and most people seem to get many advantages from this case. Simultaneously on the other hand, the environment around people is becoming worse than before throughout the world. Maybe the speed of worse of every country is different, but the total trend is the same. Factory is becoming more and more and forest is becoming less and less. Automobile is becoming overwhelming and atmosphere is becoming bad conditions. Obviously progress in the economy of societies does not only bring positive impact to us and it causes rather great problems in natural environment.

Another reason of my view is that progress in technology is not always good. Computer maybe is one of the greatest progresses in the human’s technology history. Undoubtedly it leads to individuals a lot of positive efforts, but it also causes new problems to our life and society. Crime through computer is a new kind of threat that almost all country policemen must face. This kind of crime is much more different from the traditional one, and it has its new own characters that policemen have to spend much time studying how to deal with. These new problems in our life are absolutely caused by the progress of technology.

Last but not least, many progresses in our life such as those in technology also make people now become much lazier than before. Automobiles make individuals no need walk a long way between home and company as before. Elevators make people have no chance to go up by stairs in office. With these helps of daily developing facilities, people enjoy the convenience and on the other hand inevitably become lazier more and more. Many times these cases do great harms to people’s healthy directly.

According to what I presented previously, many adverse issues could be brought by the progress in our life meanwhile it cause lots of advantages. So we should clearly get to know both sides of the effort of progress and make it serve us in a best way.
