OG中的解释有点看不懂“The phrase double theapples is not very exact but it could beunderstood to mean twice as many or asmany as;”

这题划线部分的has那肯定是错的，前面的这个解释有点不太明白“twice as many"和”twice as many as“有区别吗？

多谢前辈指点，不知前辈可否解释下这句OG上这句话？“The phrase double the apples is not very exact but it could be understood to mean twice as many or as many as” 是在看不懂歧义在哪里？

我水平有限试着回答一下；

我认为这应该和double的词性变换有关，其实所有的岐义都不外乎是因为它有不同的词性解释，或者有不止一种语法功能的解释，这里double 也是这样，
它有可能被后边的定语从句修饰而出现as many as 的解释，
也有一种可能是它在定语从句的修饰之外，而出现twice as many的解释。
归根到底这是由于double的词性造成的，当它是形容词的时候后边的定语从句应该修饰它+先行词。

谢谢前辈哈，可是在下实在愚昧，还是未能领会精华

关于double用法;
2.1 double可以是名词, 动词(vi&vt), 形容词, 副词, 限定词;
2.2 double做限定词时用法与twice相同
2.3 double跟在动词后面做副词，用法同twice (see double) --> double 做副词就这么一个用法，比twice单调;
2.4 没有double as…as只有twice as…as;
2.5 做形容词, 应该是the double price 或者 a double amount, 注意冠词在前;
2.6 做动词, 可以及物, 比如A doubles its size to…; 或者不及物, 比如 A doubles in size.

我怎么感觉这里double做adj，adv不还都是两倍的意思？怎样理解才能使as many as?
形容词的话感觉有点怪，中间加了个the
副词的话修饰produce？可是og说“the phrase ”有歧义，也就是不管前面动词的事
做限定词不还是两倍的苹果吗？

求前辈再指点指点哈

韦氏词典上有这么一条解释耶！做名词时候“one that is the counterpart of another:as" 解释后面跟了个as，是不是这里的意思as many as？只不过这个counterpart怎么理解？相似的物？也就是相似的苹果，所以是as many as?

有人说这是； twice as many 或者是(twice） as many as

难道是as many 表示一样多/ as many as 表示多达两倍（潜在含义就是不是很精确的两倍）所以就两种理解？
