本句的“员工的无犯罪记录"和"背景调查”是因果关系，而不是一个重要一个不重要的关系。因为员工拥有无犯罪纪录这一点对投行很重要，所以投行要求他们的申请者接受严格的背景调查。“require each job applicant to undergo ...变成applicant做背景调查，逻辑上应该是investment banks做背景调查。”这里applicant 是undergo这个调查的，并非做这个调查。 不知这样解释清楚否？
