我们先来看句子结构，Although作为连词引导整句句子的第一部分，后面必须跟一个完整句子，第二部分在破折号后，即—they……
a选项中，首先从语法上看，appearing和grown都不能作为谓语动词，造成了句子fragments，也就是heirloom tomatoes缺谓语；再来，从逻辑语义上看，破折号中的内容，描述的是heirloom tomatoes的外形，破折号的作用通常有补充说明，所以appearing……应尽量离破折号中的内容近，才能保证句子意思的连贯。
