此题，C D E选项全都出现them，怎么解释中就说只有E的是清晰明了的。不是所以的指代都是就近指代吗？E的为什么会没有指代tourists的嫌疑？

not parallelto wasgrowing.
D Once again, them seems to refer to tourists;
the entire construction is awkward, wordy,

愚见哈~

c because后跟的句子主语是tourists，将逻辑重心放在了tourists上，them很容易被理解为指代tourists；
d raising 紧跟在这里很容易被误解为是tourists的修饰语而不是moisture的，them的指代很模糊；
不知道对不对~

我们不妨从句子结构来理解一下，
C选项中which had raised the humidity within them 是定语从句，修饰moisture，层级关系中处在because 状语从句的下一层，因此them应指代because 状语从句的名词，所以根据逻辑关系不难看出them对应的是tourists。
D选项中，raising the humidity withinthem 也是定语作用，修饰了tourists，在层级中是that was exhaled by tourists定语从句下一层，因此只能对应这个从句的唯一的名词 tourists。
E选项，because moisture exhaled by tourists had raised
the humidity within them是主句的状语从句，因此 them对应了主句的名词，再根据逻辑意思也就不难看出them对应了主语chambers.
