1、此处they are 必须要，比较句中时态不同要补足谓语。

呵呵,刚好两个月,自己试着翻译一下:

Thomas Eakin强有力的风格和他对课题的选择(现代外科学的进步,体育学科,个人和社会或甚至自身紧张关系下产生的压力)在他所处的年代是显著的, 同样地,对我们而言,(Thomas Eakin强有力的风格和他对课题的选择)也是令人敬佩的.

翻译的不好,若有不对, 请大家务必指出来.

当然, 回归到GMAT语法,只要我们可以把题做对了即可. 考试的时候不可能非看懂原句意思, 才能做题.
