【HELP】比较省略问题～～～～～～求指教

E中是省略speeds...
不是同一个speeds，为何可以省略？难道不需要补出么？
比如OG上：Protein in rice is of higher quality than that in wheat（不同protein）
我怎么觉得protein这句和这道题是个反例呢。。。

那么如果按上述那道题可以省略speeds的话，这道题的答案E也就错了咯？

A. than those that charge
B. than are charging
C. than to charge

一直以来排除D的道理就是不同 institutions ，需要补出啊。。。

省略的原则，一般来说至少两条，一是省略的必然是已出现不过的，二是省略后的必然不产生歧义。一条没有达到就会出现问题。
比起第一题，先说说后面两题吧
According to a 1996 survey by the National Association of College and University Business Officers, more than three times as many independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year than those that charge over $16,000.
A. than those that charge
B. than are charging
C. than to charge
D. as charge
E. as those charging
这一题由于as...as首先排除ABC，最后两个单从语法上看都是正确的，但意思却大不相同。根据原文，作者想表达的是，收费8000的机构是收费16000机构的3倍多，因而，这里是机构与机构比，E中的those则是指代前文的institutions，而非tuition and fees
如果使用D结构，charge除了有vi.收费的意思，还有n.费用的意思，所以d中比较对象的变化改变了句意。并不是单纯因为省略有效性和正确性与否而排除的。

Protein in rice is of higher quality than that in wheat 之所以要补出that主要是为了平行吧，ets很讲究美观的= =

而楼主的第一题，省略speeds并不会引起歧义，speeds和it不同，it本身就是特指。而这一题的重要问题可能在后面
最重要的是，这个考试是选相对较佳选项。首先由于介词要用at，排除AB，然后C中是higher as，不对，要排除。d中than后面的that回到原文，紧跟着currently possible，不恰当。于是变成E

其中的that如果指代speeds的话，单复数不一致。

mark，charge在句子中应该做动词，名词的话讲不通。。
