I am an American English teacher who helps adults acquire an American accent, feel more comfortable about moving to the United States, and attain better speaking skills in preparation for their study abroad.
These days, a lot of adults go abroad and interact only with their fellow Chinese peers. They hardly make an effort to learn a foreign language, continue using the same apps, and watch the same shows as they do in China.
Here is my advice. In addition to gaining a foreign degree, you need to:
• Learn more about the city and state you'll be living in
• Discover what apps and websites Americans use
• Know who to go to if you have questions about your academic program
• Figure out where to meet like-minded people (Americans)
• Use a shopping platform in English
• Understand how the healthcare system works in the U.S.
• Make small talk with natives
(I can be your first American friend/teacher/etc.)
→ Check out my attachment of a social media post on Reddit. You will see people discussing South Asian and East Asian students in the U.S. MBA programs. You'll see how Americans perceive Chinese people.
I can help you build confidence.
My usual 45-minute lessons consist of a PowerPoint on one topic. The student gets a chance to read, learn new vocabulary words, and answer 20+ questions. After the class, the student gets a study guide PDF with mispronounced words and natural-sounding phrases.
In my classes, you will:
• speak 70-80% of the time
• reduce your accent
• receive a lot of corrections
(If you don't like when a teacher corrects you, I'm not the teacher for you!) ヾ(^ิ∀^ิ)
