OG12-36

没人问过

Dressed as a man and using the name Robert Shurtleff, Deborah Sampson, the first woman to draw a soldier’s pension, joined the Continental Army in 1782 at the age of 22, was injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she had become too ill to serve.
(A) 22, was injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she had become
(B) 22, was injured three times, while being discharged in 1783 because she had become
(C) 22 and was injured three times, and discharged in 1783, being
(D) 22, injured three times, and was discharged in 1783 because she was
(E) 22, having been injured three times and discharged in 1783, being

选A

Parallelism; Logical predication
This sentence introduces Deborah Sampson with a description of Sampson when she first enlisted, and goes on to describe her career in the Continental Army. Th e information about her historical signifi cance interrupts the chronological fl ow of the sentence and must therefore be set off with commas. Th e sequence of events that marks her career must be presented as a parallel series of items.

A Correct. Th e phrase that describes Deborah Sampson as the fi rst woman to draw a soldier’s pension intervenes between the subject and predicate of the main verb and thus is appropriately set off with commas; the three verbs in the main clause are in parallel form.
B While being … indicates that Sampson was injured at the same time she was discharged from the Army.
C Discharged should be in passive voice—was discharged—because Sampson did not do this herself.
D Injured needs to be in passive voice.
E having been injured … indicates that all Sampson’s injuries as well as her discharge occurred in 1783

我选了D,不可以把injured three times看作插入语么?
还有这句句子结构到底是怎样了,大家帮我分析下吧

我也错选d,不过仔细一看,a的确是对。

这个句子主干是DS joined...,was...,and was...

a的句子结构正确,连词用法没有错。

d的问题不在于injured是否要加was,因为我也认为作为状语没问题,这个选项的错误在于后面把过去完成时改成了一般过去式,而且吧become这个表动作的词去掉了。

白勇书里面,遇到这种情况写的是:永远错

嗯,有道理
我觉得og的解释往往不能助我排除选项。。。这到底是为啥呢。。。

1、and was discharged in 1783 because she had become too ill to serve.

2、and was discharged in 1783 because she was too ill to serve.

铁甲,我觉得这个2个都对。

1中,在discharged 之前,她变得too ill to serve

2中,她too ill to serve表示一种状态.所以她被discharged,

不晓得我的理解对不对。

我说个个人意见,

1.插入语,一般来说,尽量插在要修饰的部分后面,比如这里的 injured three times

应该放在主语Deborah Sampson的后面,你看the first woman to draw a soldier’s pension,正好

做了插入语修饰Deborah Sampson,而如果injured three times做插入语,那么应该放在人的后面,可是连续两个

插入语,有这种习惯用法吗?

2.根据原文意思,三个动作有个连续性:先在22岁参军,而后受伤,而后因为受伤而离职,所以是三个动词

verb1....verb2....and verb3的用法

3.他离职的原因是受伤,这里明显有个因果关系,所以,不能没有because

4.因为受伤在先,离职在后,用过去完成时很符合原文的意思

不知道这样说你理解了不

d选项中的injured three times 应该算是主句不是插入语,而且要用被动吧。请指教

first of all,

one should "injured" sth even himself or "was injured". "Injure" meaning cause damage "to", so it requires a N.

This is just one critical error with D.

If you are saying, "she was discharged in 1773 because she was ill",  you are saying "she was NOT ill until 1773 and because of that, she was discharged in the same year." This certianlly did distort the meaning of original sentence, which uses "become" to describe a before-after status.
