这句子的骨头是：
.....: the bird leads Another animal....to a nest by chattering....;.....

就是这个鸟用chatter的方法领着另一个动物到了一个nest...

主语是the bird 所以是单数，排除A&E
通过什么方式用by，而且我个人觉得如果用with可以引起歧义，因为可以和nest连接，排除A&B
as做“当”讲
D项and its flying 没有对象和其平行
没做过这个题，也不知道这么说对不对，欢迎指正

楼上们说的对。

chatter 是 fly 产生的，是fly的方式。所以不能用and和fly并列。
排除BD，

只能选C

B.    with chattering and its flying  原句中用的when，而这里改为and并列关系，缺少了同时、伴随的含义
关键是,chattering是动词，而后面的(its) flying是名词，两者不平行
C.    by chattering as it flies
D.    by chattering and its flying  同B
E.    by chattering as they are flying
