1.    If you have extenuating circumstances that effectedyour GPA, would you recommend applying?

This is a great time to utilize the Additional Essay portion of the application,that many schools offer. I think it'd be to your advantage to explain, to theextent that you're comfortable, what contributed to your GPA and academicperformance. The less uncertainty we have surrounding something like GPA, thebetter! Since you're applying to an academic program, you want to leave aslittle to the imagination of the Admissions Staff/Reader as possible.

Additionally, if there is anything you ever want to work through, havequestions about, it's agreat idea to develop a personal relationship with an Admissions Staff Memberand see what the specific school suggests. Here at JHU CBS, we work very closely with applicants on how to besthandle such situations, strengthen their application, and to gauge theirchances in the admissions process.  

Lastly, if one part of your application is "weaker" make sureevery other part is as strong as possible!

2.    Is it fair to conclude that Carey is primarily suit for health care professionals.I am from a fashion industry and would like to major in Marketing, does yourschool provide right type of opportunities to develop myself professionally inrelation to my present domain.

Great question! That is definitely a reputation thatwe sort of combat, since many people associate Johns Hopkins with Medicine/Health Care. While this iscertainly something that inspires some of the Carey Business School programs and curriculum choices,it is not to say that that's our only forte.

We currently have 6concentrations that you can choose from in the Full-time Global MBA programduring your second year. They include: Financial Business, Health Care Management, Real Estateand Infrastructure, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Enterprise Risk Management.

Additionally, our Career Services has people that liaise differentindustries and employers, so they are really great about connections andhelping you market yourself for the specific types of job and industry you'relooking to go into.

3.    What would be your advice to the applicants who havework-x across multiple sectors say IT , social start-up and Government ? Howshould they deal with this, especially if the work-x is gained in a short spanof 4-5 yrs ?

A: I think the most important thing here is that youhave full-time work experience and you can articulate leadership, problem-solving skills you've gained,things you've learned from your work experience and working withteams/individually, etc. Use specific examples of what you've learned.

Many applicants have had jobs or internships that are multidisciplinary,which is common today! I think it's all about the value you see in theexperience and what you've done, that's important.

Additionally, it's important to lay out for the admissions reader how your previous experience(s)have helped you shape your future goals, both long and short-term.
