但是请各位指教一下
as many as ARE enrolled in，这里的主语不需要补出吗？高手能分析一下句子结构吗？总感觉这么说少了些什么呢

这个应该是about的一个用来修饰people的介词结构吧~
意思应该是想表达这个八百万的人数和全国四年制的大学招生人数一样多
E中是as many as的比较结构，就是people ，（is） about as many as （people） ...这里的省略是很常见的现象啊~

看词典 equivalent 有等效的意思，就是这两个比较对象是等效的。所以og解释说，equivalent的使用会让比较的对象可能不只是 respect to number进行比较,而是to"some boarder concept" 。所以A和B都不好。
