Supply Chain Management is to manage the material flow and data flow through the whole supply chain from demand forecasting, order management, production planning to distributing. It's about understanding customer needs and making sure that customer gets what they need on time. Jobs such as customer sevice, order management, delivery and shipping, purchasing etc. could all be considered as in Supply Chain Management. Actually supply chain management is part of Operation Management which is mainly related to manufacturing industry; also there is suapply chain in retail business but the process and data are not as complicated as those in manufacturers. Not sure whether it helps. Or more input is welcome..
