为什么C不好, A 与C的区别在于 having 和 can，having left, left 有什么区别呢？

我也選 c，不理解traces can 與 traces 的差別

但我覺得，A life form having left的主動型式是比C 的life form left 型式正確

生物自己留下的化石痕跡....，請繼續討論

1. 原文的情态动词要尽量保留, A. can  C. 无 can

2. presuming 是分词短语，不是完整从句，所以 C 错：

    presuming (that 这里是不能省略的) such life forms left fossil trace 不对

对于1: 只有在其他成分都相同的情况下,这种保留原文情态动词的优先性才成立;

对于2: 就是因为是分词而不是从句排除C? 从原文的结构来看很明显是没有道理的; 至于Presuming后面的that是否省略,我觉得这个根本就不是一个问题,现在GMAT考试中出现越来越多的that省略的,所以,that省略这个问题不能作为一个判据: GMAT是优先选择有that引导词的宾语从句,并不是说that不可省略;

对于2: 排除C的原因在于，你看

            presuming such life forms left fossile traces to begin with，

简化一下，presuming forms left traces, 而 forms left traces 是完整的宾语从句，

所以 presuming 后的用来引导宾语从句的that是不可省略的。

而that 引导定语从句时是可以省略的。

再看选项 A,  having left 修饰  forms，作presuming 的宾语，而不是宾语从句，不存在这个问题。

同意A，

1，弱语气词can，表示一种不肯定的意思，最好不要省略。

2，原文用的时having left，现在完成进行时，表示重复性的一件事情，不断的留下化石踪迹。C没有表达出这个意思。

3，B错在if与presume意思重复。
