31. Society should makeefforts to save endangered species only if the potential extinction of thosespecies is the result of human activities.
Atleast one endangered species is leaving us everyday .One day human beings maybe the only one left in the word. So speaker says society should make effortsto save endangered species only if the potential extinction of species is theresult of human activities. After reflection, I can only agree with the speakerpartly.
Weshould make efforts to save endangered species for following reasons.
Firstly, it’s necessary to do so. Saving endangered species is to keepthe balance of the whole ecosystem. We are under the same sky, and breathe thesame air. Every species in the nature are important. Because anyone of them disappears,it may influence several food chains even the whole ecosystem. Especially,those in the base link will have great effect on the rest above. And humanbeings nearly stay in the top of the chain, we may also be threatened if there ischange below. Thus the diversity of the species plays an essencaial role.
Secondly,we can't deny that it’s human activities that results in the potentialextinction of those species. We cut off trees in a large scale so that animalslose the habitat to survive. We catch and kill them just for high profit ormedical or commercial use, so the number decreases sharply in a short period .What’s more, for the lack of realization of balance of whole ecosystem, peopledive away some species which seems to be useless or harmful to us. To thisextent, our humans are responsible to save endangered species.
But, we should protect not only endangered species but also all speciesin the word.
Justas I have mentioned above, each species can’t be absent. And we cannot wait todo something until they are endangered. It’s too late when they are facingextinction. Then there are so few that we can do to save them.
We are advanced animals existing in the word and have theresponsibility to keep the word balances and sustainable. We should not beselfish, seeking fortune just for ourselves ignoring the fate of other species.The harmony of the whole ecosystem needs every species including endangered oneand existing one, human beings’ efforts as well. |
