请教C,D选项的问题，之前记得说be not...but...是个常见的parallelism的考点；然后省略考点上有一个点是说第一个句子含有be动词或者become,第二个句子中的be动词或者become必须省略；于是我做题的时候根据这两个点选的C，但是正确答案是D，求教原因，谢谢。

这里CD选项都可以看做是平行，但是C选项有修饰歧义的问题，我们来看一下C：
many biological traits are not the products of natural selection,（ favored because they enhance reproduction or survival）, but simply random by-products of other evolutionary developments.——中间括号部分其实是插入语修饰，但是如果我们不看logic只看语法结构的情况下，,（ favored because they enhance reproduction or survival）, but simply random by-products of other evolutionary developments是可以因为but的存在看做是平行的。所以改变了原文的not...but...的理解逻辑。

而加上are就是为了和前面的not的助动词进行呼应，因此，这种not.....but.....被长长的插入语隔开的时候，很容易造成but…和插入语并列的歧义；所以加上助动词是为了避免歧义的产生
