两题语法结构不清

1)  For many people, household labor remains demanding even if they can afford household applicances their grandparents would have found miraculous.

主句的主谓宾为： household labor remains demanding... 然后 even if 引导从句。

但是， even if  后面的 they 指的是 their grandaparents？ 还有令我迷惑的是， even if 后面有两个主谓宾， 而且中间没有任何符号隔开， 这是为什么？

2) At the time of the Mexican agrarian revolution, the most radical faction, that of Zapata and his followers, proposed a return to communal ownership of land, to what had been a pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards.

主要结构：  the most radical faction proposed a return to communal ownership ...

that of Zapata and his followers, 中的 that 是指什么？ 最后的从句看不懂能解释下嘛？

because 'their grandparents would have found miraculous.' 是定语从句修饰 appliances, 所以根本没有 2 个verb.
