According to some analysts, the gains in the stock market reflect growing confidence that the economy will avoid the recession that many had feared earlier in the year and instead come in for a "soft landing,"followed by a gradual increase in business activity.

答案就是A， 其他答案可以明显排除，可是对于earlier in the year 使用过去完成时总是一头雾水。因为前面有“the economy will avoid the recession”，那么in the year,应该指得是事情发生得当年，the year还没完全过去，这样得话earlier in the year 应该使用一般过去时就可以了，表示“现在得过去”我就是不懂为什么要使用“过去得过去”。在网上查了，没有人问我这种愚蠢得问题，所以只好求助大家了，哪位好人可以帮忙得？

lz过谦了。其实我是貌似求深，但可能一不小心就走偏了。正如有些NN所说，SC的最高境界就是有超强的语感，看那个爽就选那个。外国人肯定不会为了说一句话先研究半小时语法的，而我的习惯恰好相反（而且不幸的是考试时时间还那么紧张）。估计这也就是为什么我IBT阅读29，口语20的原因吧。

相对于写文章的时间（也就是reflect)，the gains in the stock market 是过去时间发生的，fear the recession 则是在the gains in the stock market之前的事情，过去的过去，用过去完成时。
