前后文如下：

performancesthey’re most conspicuous and most risky displays for the time
just beforethe baby birds become able to take care of themselves. And the

birdsthat helpless when have hatch. In that case, the parents will save the
bestperformance until just before the babies get their feathers.
我自己理解是，他们不会给出最好的表演直到他们产下蛋来。但字面理解又似乎是：他们不会给出他们最好的表演在他们刚产下蛋后。
越想越糊涂……哪位可以帮忙解释下？

她们不会在她们产下蛋后给出最好的表演因为她们必须投入更多的时间和精力养育子女。
也就是说她们养育子女要到子女会照顾自己为止，而不是子女出生为止，所以最好的表演不会再产蛋之后就给出。
