DescriptionPostdoctoral and graduate student positions are available in the group of Prof. Boris I. Yakobson at Rice University (Houston, TX). Our research focuses on theoretical/computational studies of nanostructures and materials.
Research project topics include:
I. 3D-networks of carbon nanotubes for energy, structural, or electronics applications.
II. 2D-atomic layer materials of nitrides (BN etc.), sulfides, oxides, for structural and nanoelectronics like quantum dots, interconnects, energy applications.
III. Boron nanostructures and clusters, 2D sheets, fullerenes, nanoribbons, nanotubes, their novel physics and chemistry (joint effort with experimentalists, Ajayan group)
IV. Dynamics of growth processes of nanowires and tubes, in particular, catalytic synthesis of carbon nanotubes/graphene, BN, or B layers.
Applicants should send their CV by email to va9@rice.edu. Please include a cover letter describing your scientific interests, prior research experience (methods and software packages), knowledge of programming languages, familiarity with UNIX/Linux, experience with parallel computers.
