PhD Bioinformatics - NIH

This individual is expected to have a degree of PhD in Bioinformatics or
equivalent and will develop tools for next generation sequence analysis, and
perform data analysis. This individual will be working with scientists with
profound knowledge in statistics and in mental health research. The main
goal of this study team is to develop novel methods to improve the existing
software and to apply these methods to the real data.
Key Responsibilities:
Design analysis strategies, and analyze sequencing data,
Participate or lead in house software development
Requirements:
PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, statistical genetics, or equivalent
Practical experience with open source bioinformatics tools
Experience in data analysis of next-generation sequencing data is required
Demonstrated software development skills including some of the following:
Python or Perl, C++ R or Java.
Knowledge of human genomics is a distinct advantage
Demonstrated excellent communication skills and written and spoken English.
Salary range is between 50K - 52K plus health benefits
