一道老语法题的思考

老题，但是看了OG和网上的评论，感觉都没有说在点子上。

我自己的想法拿出来供大家评论。不知道论坛中有没有类似的意见。

词题关于either..or..平行的考点，应该没有任何争议。关键是在剩下的A，E选项中如何做选择。正确答案是A，OG解释很模糊一笔带过，网上解释主要是围绕ask sb to do 和aid sb in doing sth的语法来解释。
我的想法是：
1。首先，单独通过讨论ask sb to do 的idiom而否定是不对的。因为此处ask的用法不是要求的意思 -- 此处ask 的用法是恳求索取的意思，直接加宾语。
2。其次，aid sb in doing sth/ aid (n.) in doing sth 是正确的语法。但我感觉这不是作者出题的愿意。
3。关键点是用句意逻辑去判断，heal 的主语是什么。在A选项中，出题者如是刻意把to do 用作supplicants ask sth的目的状语, 那heal 的主语就是supplicants, 而这明显是不符合逻辑的。如是用作宾语补足语(ask sb to do sth)，那aid 作heal的主语也不合逻辑。因此比较之下，只有A正确 -- 用in doing作为modifier 来修饰名词 aid，整个部分作为ask 的宾语。

这是一道OG中的高难度题，必须要通过读懂句意逻辑，然后相互比较选项才能得出正确答案。

同意楼主最后一点，你看如果非要用ask sb to do sth结构，to do 表宾语补足语的话，是不是改成下面这个更好：
asking the goddess Bona Dea to heal physical and mental ills （ask：请求，要求）

这是正确选项：
asking the goddess Bona Dea's aid in healing physical and mental ills （ask: 寻求）
