OG16 27题选项D的解释有部分不明白，求解

In the 7 century B.C., the Roman alphabet was adapted from the E alphabet, which in turn had been adapted in the previous century from a western Greek alphabet, which itself had been adapted earlier in the same century from P alphabet. （E,P是首字母啦）
D：having been earlier adapted itself.
OG上有一段解释看不明白：if itself is intended simply for emphasis,rather than as a reflexive pronoun,it would be preferable,in this context,to set it off with commas.
就是说如果 itself 如果只作强调用，而不是用作反身代词的话，应该用逗号隔开？不懂。。

能不看OG解释里面这些死规则吗，只需要比较选项做出题就可以了，不用去记这些条条框框

看大家不都是说要把OG每个选项的解释非常仔细地看么。。。

也就是说你连在一起也就有歧义啦，adapt itself看起来不就是从自己那里改编自己吗？很明显这是不对的。
所以这里的itself是强调，用逗号隔开的话会好一点
