正确答案是D，很好奇C哪里有错？是理解的逻辑意思不对吗？

首先打眼一看C这个选项redundant~~~with the fact that there is
contribute nothing but the wordiness~~~
其次意思变了~~~
D有一个by DOING的顺序（ acknowledging）
而C直接就说了一个FACT~~~~失去了这层意思

我知道CD之间意思有较大差别，可是为什么就会说D的这个意思是对的，而C的这个意思就不对呢

说实话我也不会选D.因为凭空多出来了一个动词，多了层关系。

the fact that 本身就是一个非常wordy的表述，当然不能算错，但是可能相比较下D更好。

但是两者表述的内容本身就有差异，我觉得是看内容来选的.....

there be是存在有
而 an independent Western Europe不是天然就存在的，所以不好用there be去表达它的存在

同意。我刚刚做到语法笔记这题，是prep08 220 的补充题。也不明白为什么d比c好。总觉得似乎都没有错。而且一般人下意识会比较认同begin with这个词因为比较常见。楼上的回答提醒了我? there be表示的是自然存在或者统计数据。
