in A . you get a misplaced modifer (in 2000 is set off by a pair of comma;it can attach either to the former clause or to the latter）grammatically not good （but not the fatal mistake）
you should strip the sentence to get the main skeleton
in A：there are mothers（noun modifier；what is working intended to modify？ we get an ambiguity）；almost two-third of them were employed
here in A，you don't convey the contrast effectively；former just states there are mothers
D：one-third mothers worked outside home；two-third mothers were employed outside home（effective statement，here u get it） |
