答案是D，但我觉得D的主语a consumer和句子的主语中they（products)不一致。
我选的E，仅仅因为被动语态被OG无情的排除了

the key to question above  is A.
as to C, OG explains that "The shift to plural Bicycles detracts from clarity by suggesting that multiple bicycles are owned by each person in question."
The same case happened in the option E of your question.
